She finally coughed up with the payment that was on the statement, but I am still wondering about the Fictionwise sales. I mean, I’ve had it explained to me by several people ‘in the know’, and they all tell me the rankings for bestseller *are* done on sales. But, they couldn’t tell me if one sale moves you up one spot or not, since it’s all relative.

I’m going to have to settle for what I’ve got, and just be glad it’s all done with now.

I think I’d advise against a lawyer unless you think you can get damages out of them somehow. If all you want is the royalty payments, the legal bills would swallow that and then some (unless you’ve got a really close friend or family member who’s a lawyer who’d go after them for free).

As much of a pain as it is, you may be stuck with personally hounding them until they cough it up.
