Hey Barry!

*nodnod* I would have, now, passed it off as SP had I not been able to move, and/or my grandmother hadn't reacted the way she did. I have a distinct feeling (which I can't substantiate with any of the others, as they're deceased now...) that my aunt may have mentioned something at some point. She was very sensitive, and spent some time at the house.

The pop and flash instances have all happened when I was fully awake - although once or twice as I was first dropping off to sleep. Naturally that'd startle me enough to stay awake for a while afterwards. There had been only rare instances since my grandparent's old house was torn down... and only one or two since I moved from there. I often wonder if it was something in that house, or on that spot. The new house is on the same yard, but not in the same place...

I have suffered from sleep paralysis since the age of 8 or so. On 2 of those occasions (and I'd venture to guess I've undergone an "episode" of SP at least 50-60 times), I saw (or thought I saw) someone in the room with me. Now, both of these instances occurred in my teens, so even now looking back, I am not 100% certain I saw anything although they are relatively fresh in my mind.

Anyway, about the SP. When the episode is particularly strong, I will get something very similar to what you are describing with the flash. It actually continues to happen when I close my eyes, too...very faint.

Anyway...if you'd care to discuss further, you know my e-mail. I wrote for UFO Digest for a while in my early 20s, and I have e-mails from readers that you may find interesting.
