I made an announcement over at Belfire yesterday, that absolutely made my Yule. First, I’ll explain what a squee is.<\/p>\n
According to the top rated selection at Urban Dictionary, a Squee is: Of course, it’s also one of Jhonen Vasquez’s amazing characters… but I digress. For the purposes of my squeeage, it’s the fngrrl sound one makes when absolutely, totally, and completely unable to voice any other due to extreme elation. <\/p>\n One of my heartbreaks in forming and founding Belfire was that Bob Freeman<\/a> and his novel Descendant<\/em> were spoken for. See, I was lucky enough to have been a beta-reader for it, and was involved briefly elsewhere as well. I felt as though I’d just<\/em> missed an opportunity by not getting things in a row more quickly.<\/p>\n Imagine my glee (yes, glee – and not the television show) when I heard from Bob. About Descendant<\/em>. About Autumn Moon and the Book of Secrets<\/em>. About (squee!) doing cover art for Belfire.<\/p>\n Mabon was made with Greg Hall<\/a> accepting our offer for At the end of Church Street<\/em>, and trust me, there were squees aplenty – there were even lilting<\/em> squees.<\/p>\n Samhain came and although I couldn’t post the announcement until things were finalized, I knew ahead of time (and did some serious fngrrl squeeing) that Kim Paffenroth<\/a> and David Dunwoody<\/a> would be interested in (and then signed with) Belfire to produce a dual novella.<\/p>\n Now Yule, and Bob has accepted our offer for Descendant<\/em> (and quite likely the following two novels) and Autumn Moon<\/em>.<\/p>\n A very squeeish Yule.
