NEEPS!
Ahem. Sorry… Neeps is what some members of my family call swedes, or yellow turnips, aka rutabagas. I have a huge one in the fridge, and frankly it’s time it gets used.
So, this is what’s for dinner tomorrow night, because technically it’s Rhia’s night tonight, and damn it, I’ve been looking forward to those Crescent Roll Dogs all week. Yes, seriously.
Anyway, I’ll be serving these particular selections with Pillsbury Biscuits, just because they were on sale with the Crescent Rolls. Maybe over the weekend, I’ll make homemade biscuits to …

A Prize in Every Can!

Overheard in my kitchen last night as we prepared Imbolc dinner: “You get a prize in every can!”
Care discovered the ‘ping-pong’ ball inside the Guinness. It’s actually called a widget, and has something to do with the can and the gases and the head…or some such. I wasn’t paying attention. All I know is it was funny as hell when she was watching the bubbles flow down the glass instead of up, while listening to the ball bounce around in the empty can… She seems to like the flavor of …

Every so often, ground beef goes on sale at a pretty good price, so I buy huge amounts of it. Some gets cooked right away – like a batch of chili, or double lasagnas or casseroles, some gets wrapped and packaged up – all for the freezer.

I think I’ve mentioned before that I feel very strongly that the British Isles is my home, my heart-home, if nothing else. I dream of walking the moors, of taking the path up the Tor, of fishing in a highland stream.
Occasionally, it really pulls me, and besides watching Coronation Street, or a Brit sitcom, or Doctor Who or Torchwood, I’ll make something really English. Or what I’ve come to know as English anyway.
