RIP Jamie, I was blessed to know you.
Yesterday around this time, I was floored by the news that Jamie Eyberg, fantastic writer and every writer’s friend, had died in a freak accident. In attempting to rescue him, his wife Ann also passed. They leave behind two very young children.
There has been such an outpouring of love and memories, and support for the children. Jamie never seemed to pass up the chance to help out the rest of us, and was always there with encouraging words and applause.
I just can’t believe that he won’t be there again, but I know we can all be there for his children, and it’s evident in the support from folks all over the small and mid-list press. Here are a few postings from folks who knew Jamie:
- Aaron Polson
- Barry Napier
- Brian Keene
- M-Brane SF editor Chris Fletcher

Premonition
The Belfire family is collecting amongst ourselves to send to the fund set up for the children, and Doc Pus along with Kody Boye are setting up a charity auction as well.
The anthology, Horrorology will be dedicated to Jamie and Ann, and I hope to have it finished and to Doc soon. Jamie’s story, Undertow is included in the collection.
Rest in peace, Jamie & Ann. We are the better for having known you, and the worse for the goodbyes.
My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today.

Jamie was truly as selfless a person as I’ve met, in person or online. His caring heart and friendly hand will be missed.
I hate the world for this…I wish I could have known him
So very sad.
It leaves you speechless how someone can be taken away so unexpectedly.
