Writersphere – 10

15 October 2010 3 Comments

What’s this? A new Writersphere!? After what, an eleven months hiatus, I’ve decided to start sharing the news again. More to the point, I’ve decided to take the time to share the news, rather than pretend everyone already knows it.

I’ve also decided to use Amazon links for the books I’m promoting below. All the affiliate funds I receive go to The New Bedlam Project – and with our going to print next summer – we’re going to need the stamp money! ;)

Belfire & Needfire News

I think I only did one Writersphere after we announced the formation of Belfire Press last year. So, in this new incarnation, we’ll keep it brief, and to the point, at the top of the column.

Belfire & Needfire are having huge sales from now until the end of the month – 35% off the purchase of two or more titles and each order is entered into a draw for R. Scott McCoy’s The White Faced Bear & New Bedlam: Town Archives releasing at Halloween and November 30th respectively. Click here for details.

The girls and I are putting together an experiment for Halloween/Samhain – the night when the veil between our world and other realms is thinnest. We’ll be setting up a third mirror, facing the New Bedlam mirror and altar mirror, in the corner of my office. Er..room. Office room. Yeah. This will entirely surround that energy vortex with mirrors – what will we unleash, and what could come out of the New Bedlam mirror? Hopefully the camera and voice recorders will catch something… and we’ll post results to the ‘zine and Twitter as it happens, so make sure you’re following us!

The Support The Little Guy Campaign

Brandon Layng had an idea of how to help out the small press by spreading the word for new releases, great authors, and publications galore. What better way than use Twitter? And the #supportthelittleguy campaign was born.

Now boasting it’s own promotional ‘zine, Support The Little Guy has grown exponentially, and I’m proud to have been a small part of it. Check out the tag on the twitter site, and follow @BrandonLayng for details!

Books, Books and More Books!

Strange Publications brings us a strange tale about Strange Men in Pinstripe Suits by Cate Gardner (she who must be adored from afar). I’m in constant awe by Cate’s talent, and her wonderful titles.

Roy C. Booth, the internationally award-winning playwright who brought us Brian Keene’s Terminal: The Play and the play collection Threatre of the Macabre offers a new collection of four, one-act plays adapted from stories originally published in Necrotic Tissue magazine.

Get an inside view of a dysfunctional family at their annual funeral in ‘Bloodsukcers’. In ‘Brain Souffle’, learn a yummy new recipe from a master necrotic chef. Watch as incarcerated zombies demand better living conditions in ‘Tenure,’ and finally, if you thought your cubicle was bad, get a glimpse into the workday grind of demons in ‘With Good Intentions.’

Until October 31st at midnight, Louise Bohmer is running a Choose Your Own Character contest for her novel, The Black Act. Would you like some customized art drawn by Louise’s hubby, artist Steven Deikoff? You get to choose your favorite character from The Black Act, and Steve will create an 8 x 11 custom illustration in pen and ink for your wall. Louise will throw in two signed 8 x 11 maps from the book. Halloween is fast approaching, so enter now! How do you enter? Details below:

Between now and October 31st, simply post your review of The Black Act on either of these pages:

Amazon – or Goodreads

and send Louise an email to:
blackfaery76 ‘at’ yahoo.ca to let her know your review is up.

Whether the review is good or bad does not matter! Every review that goes up between now and October 31st will be entered into the contest. All you need to do is email Louise with your name to let her know the review is posted.

The Black Act is now also available for Kindle – and for only $2.99!

Lori Titus has a new book out entitled Lazarus. It’s available not only at Amazon, but Barnes & Noble as well.

One town stalked by the Restless Dead. Two mysterious men. One magical woman. Fall in love with a new fable of the Old West.

“Imagine Nancy Drew meets Pet Sematary at the O.K. Corral. Throw in a dash of romance and you’ve got yourself a Lori Titus story you don’t want to miss.” ~ Jodi MacArthur

Magazines

Shroud Magazine’s super-fantabulous Halloween edition is almost here! The issue is chock-full of awesome talent all rounded up by guest editor, Kevin Lucia. Rio Youers to Kelli Owen to Brian Hatcher to Danny Evarts awe-inspiring artwork, all wrapped up in a truly unique and yet horrifyingly cute cover.

Necrotic Tissue #12 is here! Get your copy while it’s still hot…then again, from the looks of the cover, it’ll be hot for a LONG time…

Are you ready to hold New Bedlam in your hand? Think you can have a piece of it in your home without inviting some of the evil in, too? If you can, if you want to try – even if you’re really too scared to give it a go – get on the subscription list for The New Bedlam Project, in print!

Let us know to add you to the list: admin ‘at’ newbedlam.com.

No further information is required at this time. We will notify potential subscribers with more information as it becomes available.
