Ten Weeks of Blogdom – Week Two

10 January 2011 One Comment

Continuing the Teen Weeks of Blogdom cruise, today I’m to write nine things about myself.

Yeah, bloody hell. This just ain’t gonna be easy, I’ve pretty much told everything there is to tell. *sigh*

9) I’m not overly fond of this blog theme after all. I love the background though, so I think if I ever get any spare time, I’m going to do some major tweaking. Maybe. Or maybe I’ll just dig around until I find a better theme…

8) I have a secret, but I’m not allowed to say anything until next weekend. Mostly because it’s not my secret to tell. But it involves small things that usually smell good, but can sometimes smell really, really bad.

7) I’ve rediscovered some of my faith. I lost it a while back, tucked it away somewhere safe, and as with all things that are somewhere safe, it was misplaced. Dagda took my hand again, and Morrighan slapped me upside the head. Just like old times.

6) My house is completely messy. Not just lived in, but messy. As in ‘wow wtf tornado resides permanently in that livingroom’ messy. It seems no matter the amount of vacuuming and dusting we do, there is always more animal hair and dust to be found. I keep thinking if we’d just do the whole house completely, then repeat that every week, we’d be good. Nope. As such, our clothes are always covered in animal hair, I’m always yelling at one cat or another, or one of the dogs, and I swear the rats get out at night and spread bedding everywhere. Every day I swear I hate them all, and that I’ll get rid of them all in one fell swoop. Then Milo crawls on my chest and starts to purr, or Jynx hugs my hand and gives little ratty kisses, and it’s all better.

5) I believe in the fairies at the bottom of the garden, and I know my neighbor’s gnomes move around at night. I believe in ghosts and disembodied spirits; at last count our house had as regular visitors: Gran, Gramps, Uncles Butch and Moe, Izzy, Phil, Aunt Sybil, and Shauna, plus the pets Maggie, Kato, Bear and Pye. Then there are the ‘passers-thru’ who are just stopping by to look at the shiny thing on their way to wherever they’re going. And lastly, there are those that were here before we moved in: Grace, Amber and the woman in the garage. Is it any wonder Care doesn’t get any sleep? Hopefully the next house is quieter.

4) I have five bookshelves, and they’re all full, but only two are full with books… The shelves on the oldest one are very bent, but are permanently screwed in, so I can’t flip them. Probably not the greatest idea my ex ever had, but was a necessary deed at the time. At it’s fullest, that unit held 500+ pagan/spiritual/healing books. I’m not sure what’s in there now, but close to the same number, I’m sure. The newest unit has most of my Leisure paperback collection, and various and sundry rat supplies and one grouchy old African Soft-furred rat. For those keeping count, it’s 2 dogs, 1 guinea pig, 7 cats and 7 rats.

3) My hair is going very gray, very quickly (maybe the ghosts and the pets have something to do with it???). I can’t decide if I should get it cut and dye it, or just get it cut and let it go… But I am tempted to do the gray blue or green.

2) I’m not looking forward to the day the doc decides to start injections on my back, or that the surgery is really a necessity rather than just a future possibility. I figure if I avoid the subject it can be put off as long as possible, which is why I walk very carefully when I’m in her office, so I don’t click or favor anything.

1) I’ve started doing notes for a novel that’s different than anything I’ve written before. 25 chapters spanning 50 years. I’m taking this one slow, and likely setting all others aside in the meantime. This one’s… necessary.

There. That wasn’t so hard. Actually, yes it was, but unless I tell you it took me an hour and a half to write this, you won’t know. Oh, wait… ha.

I’m going to be relatively blog/facebook/twitter silent for the next couple of weeks while I get caught up on a lot of editing (freelance and Belfire-related) and administration stuff for Belfire. I have some posts on hand, and may be able to get in to post some recipes soon as well.

Oh, one last thing, if I could get ya’ll to consider heading over to the latest post at Belfire, check the links and possibly cast your vote if you’ve a mind to? P&E Reader’s Poll Award

I can’t believe how badly I want to sneak that secret in. o_O
