The Future
I need your help. It’s fun, I promise.
I have some very hard decisions to make in the next weeks, harder than the ones I made last year at this time. Harder than the ones I made in the spring. They are taking up a huge part of my brain and are draining my creative energy right now.
Not that it needed draining – as you can tell from my stats page, I’ve been less than busy this year with the writing. In fact, I failed NaNo completely this year, for the first time since 2005, I quit before I really started. There was just too much going on, elsewhere.
Just for freaking fun – and because you all always give me the best advice (yes, really) – I’m going to let you pick the project I work on, and finish, next year. You are all allowed to flog me electronically if I fail.
Here are the choices – some with previews, others not so much.
Eternity: the ever-expanding erotic romance between a human with a fae soul, and her fae lover. The first was Fire & Ice, and it was meant to be a series. While I was editing what was already written, I tossed a lot of it out. I’m hoping to have part two up on the 31st as with Fire & Ice last year. And then of course, work on the other four parts over the course of the year…
1 For Sorrow: The first in the already-outlined but not completely fleshed out Jack Dawes series. Paranormal/thriller/bounty-hunter/ish. I have an excerpt posted here.
New Bedlam: A flashback/memory/present day sort of feel, with residents of the cursed and crazed town of New Bedlam featuring. Of course, Jack & Shay from the Jack Dawes series come along eventually… I thought I had a preview posted, but I don’t. Well, I did – I posted a snippet in The New Bedlam Project when it was a webzine.
Into the Mirror: Shay Maclean’s connection to New Bedlam explored fully. Events take place after 1 For Sorrow and New Bedlam. Excerpt posted here.
Short story collection: Kinda self-explanatory, that. I have numerous short stories – some previously pubbed, others not, all have been accepted elsewhere and either rights have reverted or been returned to me – and while I am not a well-known author, I haven’t even been published all that much, really, I think I’d like to self-pub these. I’m just tired of the sub/reject/sub/accept/revert/return race. Too many failed starts and I’m really just not up for it.
And there you have it. What will Jodi Lee be doing next year? Besides the obvious day-to-day stuff…
As always, thanks in advance.

I think, just for selfish reasons, I’m going with Eternity. But the vote button won’t let me vote, so I’ll just tell you here
Hey Katey!
It’s fixed… the way I had the domain name set up in WP was messing with it. The .ca still redirects here, but it can’t show in the url bar anymore. *sigh*
