Crazy Random Happy Summer!
It’s been over two months since I posted something. In that time, I’ve been absolutely crazy busy, and most of my updates have been in the form of quick fly-bys at Facebook or Twitter. I needed a short breather today, so I’m taking my lunch early, and writing a post. If you click through, please note there is a rather graphic image in the full post! <|;^)
With various offline, non-work commitments as well as my zombie-child’s graduation from high school, things have been so busy in fact, I’ve lost track of time. I have to say though, I’m so glad Carrie is done with high school. It’s been a long haul for her, what with so many absences with her health, and the struggle with dyslexia. She managed to bring her grades up so well this year that she even received a mark in the mid-90s. I’ve not worked out her GPA, but eventually. Anyway, she graduated with 31.5 credits, both diplomas and two local scholarships! They’ll go a long way to helping her with furthering her education when she goes off to UCN (University College of the North-The Pas) in 2013. Little Mz.Zombee wants to be a Natural Resources Officer when she’s done wrangling the bees out at Steppler Honey Farm.
Suddenly it’s July, and everything is backed up, waiting on me to get caught up and get on with it. I’m absolutely swamped with edits and covers right now, both for Belfire and two freelance projects (only one that is urgent, though I wasn’t given a specific deadline…).
Nonetheless, things are progressing. By the end of this weekend, I should have freelance 1 finished, two Belfire edits finished and two titles wrapped and ready for final proofing before going to print. And I just may have the inbox cleaned out again, as well! Next week I dive right back into edits as well as formatting the Lughnasadh issue of the Creating New Pagan Family Traditions series. It’s late… grad threw me right off my schedule with it. Can’t be helped, though. Sometimes life and family have to come first.
The girls and I made a hard decision this week as well. While we haven’t discussed it with one of the parties involved, it basically boils down to doing what’s best for us. We’ve waited, and we’ve watched some recent events unfold, and feel we’ll be better off as we are, instead of making the big change we’d hoped to be making soon. I won’t put my girls and myself second to someone else.
And a couple of things to update you on:
The New Bedlam Project is seeking backers, and we’re using the Indiegogo campaign platform to do it. If you want to collect some perks while helping out an awesome (if I say so myself) publication, please visit: The New Bedlam Project – Going to Print!
For the month of July, Into a Long Ago Future is 50% off at Smashwords. Use code SSW50 at checkout.
AND… if you’re a print-book person (yay!), it’s 30% off through the printer, Createspace. Use code 4P453WB8 at checkout.
Are you ready to visit a town where cursed lives are the norm?
There is nothing quite like sharing a nightmare or two, and that is exactly what author Jodi Lee intends to do with her collection, Into a Long Ago Future.
Take a walk through New Bedlam’s streets, sail through time and space with an alien-raised human, get locked in a zombie-proof safe house, discover new faery tales, new futures that will change the past.
A bit of advice though. Watch what you eat. Don’t drink the water. And definitely make sure you watch where you step.
You wouldn’t want to get lost in the galleys between.
So much for the challenges I signed up for this year, total fail there… I’m not even attempting JulNoWriMo this year, though I’m wishing everyone luck! Hopefully next year, and definitely watch out during NaNoWriMo in November! hehehe…
