2 of 52 Weeks – Challenges

16 January 2013 No Comment

The days since the first 52 Weeks post have been full of challenges. As you can tell, this post is two days late…

We’ve encountered more computer issues. While our main computer is out for repairs (still, yes.) this loaner has developed a liking for the BSOD, appearing randomly throughout the day/night, whenever it’s least expected. So far I haven’t been able to track down the problem, but from viewing the events in the software, it’s all the same problem, under the same task heading and generating the same bugcheck code. Looking online has shown different causes and even different reasons for the code. It’s frustrating… but at this point, there’s nothing I can do except wait for a fix, and deal with the BSODs.

As an example, in writing this post, there have been two BSOD and a lock-up/freeze. Yay! <|:^( What else. Ah, yes. I'm an auntie again! My youngest brother and his fiance had a baby girl last Thursday. SOOOOO tiny, yet she's bigger than either of my girls were. Unfortunately, the poor little thing has a cleft chin. What is it with this family and cleft chins? It's like having a mini-ass on your face. Seriously. And I hadn't thought of it that way, until my other brother's gf mentioned it when their daughter was born with one, too. Oy vey. So many cracked faces, it's not even funny. Just very, very sad. I want to give a shout out to Adventures of Umm (@AOUTeam on Twitter), thanks for the RTs on Twitter, Jim & Savoci! We've been watching the youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/AdventuresOfUmmm) for some time now. Actually, Jim & Girl’s adventures in Total Miner were one of the reasons I started playing, and certainly the reason I started building New Bedlam in creative mode. Someday, I’ll be ready to let people on the world…mwahahaha

Jim – ya gotta email me that story! <|;^) I've been waiting! Also, though I was supposed to go for a wisdom tooth extraction last week, a blizzard (gah, I hate Manitoba weather) kept us at home. Started with freezing rain that lead into probably a foot of snow. Lovely. I guess that makes up for last years lack of the white stuff? Yeah, no. Let's not make it a competition between years, shall we... Anyway, the infection came back and I called in. The dentist was going to come in on her day off, but once again - fate? - struck and we don't have a vehicle to get to town. As Carrie says, we're now very frusterated, lol. I doubled up on painkillers last night, and today it's all a happy mess of really not feeling much of anything. Except it would feel better if it was ya know, gone. Still, hopefully soon. Well. April Fool's Day is the closest appointment date, though I'm on the call-in list if someone else cancels. So, since we're climbing over these challenges, I'd like to toss out a challenge to everyone that reads this post. Find one thing you've been putting off (small or large, whatever!) and do it. Swing back here and post about it, if you do! Have an exceptionally creative week everyone! JL

Want a particularly frightening read this week? Check out J.L. Benét’s Wolf Hunter:

In the waning days of WWII, the Nazis succeeded in creating the ultimate fighters, werewolves. Viktor Huelen escaped capture and made his way to America, where he lived for years undetected…until now.

In present day Detroit, Huelen is being blackmailed into sharing his dark gift with a group of college kids. Jack is an Ojibwa shapeshifter…

…and the only thing that stands between the werewolves and world domination.

Available now through Amazon, Createspace, and in digital download from Kindle and Smashwords!
