Writersphere – Prompt – 10-4-13
Things are settling down, I promise. Even so, this weekend I’ll be updating the blog to have some scheduled posts, just in case. In the meantime, where is your happy place?
Sit back from your keyboard for a moment, and think about your happy place. Is it a real place? Somewhere physical that you can visit on a regular basis? Or is it somewhere in your imagination, a place you can build and re-build as necessary?
I’ve moved my happy place into my imagination, since it’s unlikely I’ll ever have the opportunity to be there on a regular basis anyway. Now, every time I need a spark of inspiration, or a bit of happy to brighten the day, I’ll close my eyes and think of it. I’ll imagine myself walking the twisty, hilly roads through the rock cuts and creek beds, across massive fields of thick green grass spotted with every wild flower I could ever wish to see.
No one can take that away from me, and it’s safe there, in my imagination. Sometimes, I edge it close to New Bedlam, sometimes I bring it into the Between. Most times, I just think and let the visualization heal the worry and stress.
Spend some time thinking about your happy place, and what you do there. Who would you take with you if you had to go there, with little time to think or plan the trip? What would you take with you? Is it the end of the world as we know it (and do you feel fine?)?
<|;^) I know, bad, bad Jodi. Until next week… get creative! And take a shot at the poll over there to your right, too, since you’re here. <3 JL
