NaNoMeals – Crock-Pot Chili Steak
In the first of the NaNoMeals series, I give you a favorite of mine… this is fabulous served over basmati rice!
Crock-Pot Chili Steak
Ingredients:
2 pounds round steak, cut into 1/4-inch cubes (or ground, if you must!)
2 medium onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
3 tbsp chili powder
3 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp salt
2 lg. can diced Chili-Style tomatoes (w/liquid)
1 c Guinness or other dark ale
1 jalapeno chili, halved and seeded, finely chopped
1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
2 cans Chili-Style beans, (w/liquid)
Directions:
Brown the meat in a large, nonstick frying pan or skillet. Add the onion and garlic; cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
Put the meat, onions and garlic into the crock-pot, adding the other ingredients and stirring well. Cover, and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
Serve over rice with cornbread or crusty rolls.
By the end of the day you should have completed at least 6668 to stay on track.
