IZAD – Happy Friday the 13th

13 March 2009 6 Comments

You all know it’s going to happen someday: the day we’ll have to make some drastic choices in who to trip, shove, and sacrifice to the zombie hordes.

My daughters and I, we have a plan. We know two places where food is abundant due to the shopoholic/squirrelly genes, and both of those places have their own source of water as well, albeit one of them will run out eventually. The other has a mega-deep well. Right now, all we need are guns, ammo and a big truck with a couple of extra large generators stored in the back.

This plan only works if the zombies are slow and stupid. Fast zombies and we’re dead, we know. Smart zombies that use tools…yeah, we’re dead. But not really, because it wouldn’t be too long before we’re up seeking sustenance, too.

Today is the day to celebrate the coming zombie overlords in whatever way you think is necessary. I know of folks that are doing dry runs with their survival equipment (I kid you not, they think they’re going to survive in the mall – a tad too much Romero, there says I). Others are making themselves up and doing zombie crawls.

How are we celebrating Zombie Day?

Care and I are going to watch both Dawn of the Dead movies. Maybe Night of the Living Dead, too. Definitely 28 Hours Later (I know, not zombies, but wtf) cuz Cillian Murphy just looks so hot all lost and confused and half-shaven. (I hear you all, and counter with – Yes, really. Shut up.) Rhia will roll her eyes and complain, then ask the gods why she wasn’t born into a normal, non-embarrassing family in a barely controlled scream. Rhia is definitely not a zombie fan.

I’m that tempted to make a survival meal and make Rhia eat it, but that’d be torture on the rest of us, and I’m pretty sure there are laws against it.

So, here’s some suggestions for your own celebrations – go buy a zombie book! I suggest:

Dead City by Joe McKinney – Empire by David Dunwoody – Rise & Walk by Gregory Solis

Dying to Live & Dying to Live: Life Sentence by Kim Paffenroth

The Rising, City of the Dead and Dead Sea by Brian Keene

Cell by Stephen King

There’s a Zombie Day – I’m so out of the loop.

I live in a large city surrounded by scary, crazy people – I’m not surviving.

Hehehehehe! An excellent suggestion for celebration, I think I’ll join in and buy me a zombie book.

And for the record, I absolutely agree about confused unshaven Cillian Murphy. There is very little that strikes me as prettier. Not sure what that says about me. Don’t care. Too shiny.

Another Cilli-fan! He is SUCH a hottie. Even as a bad guy in Red Eye or Batman. Mmmm. Nummy. ;)

Ah, see that there is the main benefit of living in the middle of nowhere. I’ve got a clear run from here to the first place we’re going to hole up, and a clear run from there to the next place. Maybe 30 people along the way. Maybe.

Hehehe… Care says she’s going to put the mall song from Dawn of the Dead (original) onto her MP3 player so she can hum along while she’s shooting zombies. LOL
