Eureka!
I’ve come upon a solution to my self-publishing/non-fiction problem. I’m not going to go through Lulu or Createspace for the trial runs. I’m going to do them myself.
I’ve got a freakishly good printer. I can have the covers printed relatively cost-effectively. I can bind them myself. I came upon this decision after working on one of the crafts, and simultaneously having my mail dropped on the desk. In it was an ARC for Karen Koehler’s upcoming chapbook, Black Jack Derringer – Book 1 – The Ace of Spades. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before, considering I wanted them to be somewhat artsy.
Needless to say – Squee… Thanks and kudos to Mrs. Hunter (grade 6 art teacher) and Karen…
Progress is slow in the art and fiction departments. Teenagers. What can you do? I’m dropping their deadline on ‘em tonight and hopefully they get tiny fires lit under their backsides. The crafts are two-thirds complete, the menu is complete and recipes half-finished, the rest of the text is pretty close to being fleshed out from the dredges of the notes.
May 5th ain’t so far away, so we’d best get a move on.
