Hybrid by Greg Ballan is still holding strong in the top five at Fictionwise! Greg is one of my favorite authors to work with, and Hybrid is an amazing tale.

Support horror in the small press – The 2009 Horror Bail-Out:
Graveside Tales, Shroud, Skullvines Press, Necrotic Tissue, Permuted Press – just $20 from 1000 fans would give the industry a $20k boost.

Skullvines Press – Blog Contest
The Skullvines boys have a ‘post a review of a Skullvines title to your blog and win stuff’ type contest running. I’m intrigued, since the prize is more Black Jack Derringer novellas (I’m currently reviewing the first in ARC format and I’m… ha, wait for the review, silly!) and free books for a year, I might actually crawl out of my self-imposed lock-down and do something to enter.

The New Bedlam Project needs your support! Okay, we need your fiction. Support is good, too.
Submissions are open for all areas for the next issue – long-short story (over 2500, under 6000 words), short (1000-2500), flash (100-1000) and poetry. We have several ad spaces open, and in consideration of the market and economy all-around… authors with releases between January and September of this year get a top-spot for $10, banner placement for $5.

Last – but not least – a word on my freelancing.
I’ve updated my portfolio site to include a design section, as I am again offering graphic services. I can no longer afford to work with “payment in kind” or volunteer situations, as reciprocation is rare, and at the time I wasn’t even asking for much (a good word and a link in exchange for services worth $100-500). My rates are comparable to others and in some cases, more affordable. And if anyone is interested – a 10% discount on editing services is applicable to everyone between now and the end of August.
