Perhaps I’ll be bronze, too

So, because I’m a ninny, I forgot to post a “be back soon” post, and I’ve been gone for a bit. You didn’t miss me, either…admit it. There are a ton of us out there, blogging away… one or two missing posts isn’t enough to have people going “wait a minute..where’s the weird twit with the green hair?”

Okay, so my hair isn’t green anymore. That is a very good thing, really, considering the bright red color of my nose and cheeks could have me mistaken for a mutant Christmas tree. I am very, very sunburned.

Very. This goes beyond the incident of 2005 where I had zebra legs and blisters ranging in sizes from 2″ diameter to 8″ diameter, although the only damage this year is my nose and cheeks. The burn is different, and isn’t blistering or peeling as yet. The skin is just very crinkly and very dry. So far, anyway. o_O

Where was I? Well, I was out in Winnipeg, watching my girls play baseball in the Provincial Championships at Buhler Park. Here’s the list (Win-Loss):

Friday:
Game 1: Headingley V. Miami – 15-5
Game 2: Miami V. Garden City – 26-5

Saturday:
Game 1: Miami V. Chalmers 14-11
Game 2: Miami V. Seine 18-5
Game 3: Miami V. Varsity View 11-6

Sunday:
Game 1: Norberry-Glenlee V. Miami – 11-10

Norberry-Glenlee won the gold medal, as they didn’t lose a single game all weekend. That team has always been great, but this year – they were Amazing. Capital A. And – they know how to win. Each girl took their medal, and shook the hands of the other teams (silver, bronze). Their pitcher/catcher combo is hot.

Headingley won the silver, because they beat us Friday night. Apparently that’s how it works (although, I understood if it came down to a win/loss tie, runs over would be counted rather than win/loss on the teams). Nevertheless, those girls have improved this year and it was good playing them. They’ve got an amazing infield. :)

after her triple.

Miami (that’s us) won bronze. After six seasons playing, and five going to championships, the girls got their medals. Here’s the interesting tidbit, and I know I’ve mentioned it before, but deal with it. On our team, we had four girls in the right age range for Bantams. The other six are technically in the Peewee/Squirts range, but as our town isn’t big enough for teams in all age ranges, we have a mixed group. Considering they’re playing against girls that are older and bigger, and have been playing longer in many cases… they’re doing amazingly well. :)

When we got home, the coaches had a barbeque and passed out the league medals, which are silvers this year (there was a clerical issue so we thought it was gold at first). Two medals and a plaque for this season. I don’t think any of us could be prouder.

And today, after storms and other stuff, I’m finally back at my desk working. Or blog posting, as I owe two blogs today, besides this one. o_O Anyhoo – I’ve done my vacation for the summer, and it’s back to the grindstone, in whatever fashion it’s grinding.

(YAY Girls!) ;)

Congrats all around! Sounds like the girls are pretty scrappy.

Congratulations to the girls! I played baseball when I was a kid and I was terrible– I know how hard it is! :D

Good luck with the sunburn. I had a bit of that myself this week, and it’s never fun :/

I said it before, but congratulations again to the girls for taking the bronze. It’s a lot batter than my team did when I was playing. We never even made it to the playoffs. -.-

So um…good job again on getting the bronze. ^_^
