Corrie Update – Maggie Jones (Blanche)

I never liked Blanche. In all the years I’ve watched Coronation Street, I rarely found a moment to relate to the character. After all, I have my own version of Blanche in my life, thank you, and watching a skinnier version on my fave show wasn’t something I enjoyed.

I didn’t like her, but by gods she could make me laugh.

Maggie Jones, the actress who played Blanche Hunt for 35 years, passed away yesterday, at age 75. I’m honestly going to miss her.

Condolences from Canada, where we’ll be watching Blanche for another 8 months or so. It’s going to be so very strange…

    I think I would have loved Blanche, too, had my mother not been so very much like her.

    Only larger and less inclined to drink tea. ;)

    She’s going to be missed, though, that’s for sure. I realized that as much as I cringed every time she opened her mouth, I watched anyway. And almost always laughed.
