As an only child raised by a single mom, I’d often spend Halloween nights at my grandparents’ house. We’d arrive after the rounds of both small towns – where my mom and I lived, and where my grandparents lived – and I’d proceed to gorge on whatever it was I pulled out of the bag first. My grandparents would get the Witches Treats toffees, my mother would get the hard candies like raspberry kisses and lemon drops. I’d get the rest, after it being thoroughly examined of course.

And here it is, the Friday before Halloween…ooo…spooky! Someone really shouldn’t have left the candy out. All those suckers (lemon flavored suckers are my favorites!!!), so little time.

Years ago, a woman named Rosie used to own the Chinese restaurant on the main street in (ha! New Bedlam) Morden. Apparently, she’d given these recipes to someone in my family, who eventually tweaked them and handed them on down to me.
I miss Rosie. She was awesome. It’s not that I don’t love the new restaurant on the highway (new? it’s been there for at least 12 years now…) because it’s now my go-to Chinese place, but Rosie was just plain wonderful. That woman let me taste things to see …

In early 2009 I launched an interview/review project on Associated Content before I was mysteriously locked out (every password would not work, even during the resetting process). I figured it was the universe telling me it was time to move on. Only recently did a cooperative effort between myself and someone there get me access to my account again.
