Even Editors have bad days…

10 December 2007 No Comment

So, I was having one of those weekends where I said (f) it all, and I walked away. Well, I walked away from parts of my daily routines; I didn’t do Myspace and Facebook things obsessively, I didn’t do forums, emails, editing, or Cubis (ok, I did some Cubis). I did watch Most Haunted and I did do my blog reading.

And, I went through all of my recently rejected material, set ‘em up for submissions and got busy with that. However – I gaffed. BIG TIME. At one of the bigger, better venues online. One I love, and I hope they forgive. Or at least get a good laugh out of it.

I was working on two subs at once. One was a reprint submission to an anthology with several words added to make the count. The other was to the venue that the first submission had been published through. I have a standard template for submissions that I change as needed. Well, rather than do it right, I copy/pasted the first cover letter to the second cover letter without thinking. I changed most of it…

But I left the part about it being a reprint submission. This is where I beat my head against the wall. I received a response within hours, reminding me they don’t accept reprints, and that they are the parent venue of the site that published my work before. I felt like such an ASS! Particularly since I’ve had to send out those same types of emails. I sent an apology, but I haven’t heard back yet. I hope I will – I hope they’re all sitting in their offices going “LOL – look what she did!”

I seriously want to just snuggle up under my Beiderlack and hide from everyone.

I hear you laughing out there. x-P
