January Wrap-Up

1 February 2008 No Comment

Editing

Finished up two client projects, both of which I enjoyed. I don’t often enjoy while I’m editing but I’ve found that a lot of the stuff crossing my screen is pretty good. Lately.

I have one project on the desk that’s taking a lot of time now, and I’ll probably have to set aside a lot of other things to get it done. If I get bitchy with ya’ll, please excuse me. It’s not you, it’s me….

Wri-Ye

Well, I crapped out the last two weeks of January. I guess that’s not all bad, considering I do have my own version of FebNo to work on, plus I’ll be doing NaNo again in the fall. So that’s 100K in two months right there, leaving 100K to be done in the other ten months which means I only fell short by 2500 or so in January.

See? I can rationalize it all away. If I add another ‘No in there somewhere, I’ll be ahead.

I see you smirking. x-P

So, January ended with 7405 words. Thing is though, I wrote several reviews and interviews (questions count! No? Damn!) and even though they don’t count towards my WriYe total, it is still a lot of words.

Subs n Stuff

One novel submission (I’m still getting a twisty-icky feeling in my chest when I think about it leaving the nest) and three short subs. One acceptance, but I’ve recently heard some things about the contract the company provides, plus I’ve been contacted by a couple of people in regards to someone else on the TOC. Do I worry? Well, only about the contractual side of things, and once I see the contract….

Lurve

I love Louise Bohmer and Tracy Jones. I don’t know how someone could not like them. Well, someone does, and someone attacked the two of them on a horror board – and no, I’m not using someone’s name because frankly, she doesn’t deserve the face time she’s been getting over this issue. Needless to say, I removed her inane rantings from my friends list, and wonder if I shouldn’t remove at least one of the others as well. (Yes, there is more than one of these people)

I don’t know Tracy as well as I know Louise, but I can tell ya from everything I’ve seen so far I’ve liked. She’s literate, polite, and always seems to have a nice word for everyone. And I’ve read the thread this has gone on in, and I’ve read a multitude of blog posts that it generated.

if you want to see professional, intelligent writings, check out Louise and Tracy.
