A word, here and there…

20 April 2008 One Comment

The other night, during a fever induced state of insomnia unlike any other, I managed to get in about 400 words. That is the first 400 words in a very long time. It’s a start back, at any rate.

My problem is this. I see the story, I have the protagonist, the antagonist, the secondary characters, the setting, the secondary settings, the plot, the secondary plot and the title. I have it all worked out in my head (first time for everything) as at the very least, a novella. Now that I have all that, though… it’s like its saying “That’s it for me, folks, I’m done!“. I had this problem when I was writing Samhain’s Call – and that took me a good three and a half years to write. I’d rather not take that long with this one.

At least this time I’m not writing from direct experience.

Meanwhile, DL Snell is waiting patiently for our interview swap-outs. I’m doing a Market Scoop on LBF Books for him, and he’s going to be doing an interview with me for Apex. I am two days behind on getting them to him, so I’m going to go and do that… before I have to rush off to a bridal shower for my cousin. My cousin, who is young enough that I remember her first day of Kindergarten; she started the same day, in the same class as my younger brother, Jarrett (aka DobHailen). 21 is awfully young to be thinking marriage, but they’ve been together forever… and if I say anything more, I’ll have to endure the cries of “pot meet kettle”. I was in that position myself 15 years ago.
