The world has stopped turning, right? Time kinda went still there for a moment. I think my heart stopped. Couldn’t the higher power have been busy on Friday? Couldn’t it have just strolled on by?
When I was six years old, I watched Exodus. I can’t really remember much, except for blue eyes. I followed those blue eyes from movie to movie the rest of my life. I was told once that no one had eyes like Paul Newman, but I knew someone that did. My grandfather’s eyes were just like his, always that twinkle of mischief deep in the blue. Gramps was 78 when he died, five years ago this weekend.

Paul Newman was brilliant on screen and was one of those rare actors that seemed well grounded and a genuinely good person in real life when interviewed.
