Toe-Dipping
I’ve been trying to break the writer’s block for…gawds…months now. I know a huge part of my problem is a giant amount of frustration with various people either in or recently shoved out of, my life. Too, I’ve been working on edits of the older stuff getting it ready for another round of submissions; also editing/formatting for clients. It’s not that I’ve been completely out – I’ve written bits and pieces here and there.
But that’s just it, you see. Bits and pieces. No more than 500 words at a time, sometimes a week apart. My word goal per day was 1200 back at the start of January. Now I’m happy if I get 500 a week. Over at Myspace, I even asked my writerly friends to help out by suggesting something nasty for inspiration. Or even not-nasty – just anything. Some of that has helped, and for that I’m forever grateful.
However, I’ve begun yet another project – the unnamed novella project I’d begun working on (as a collaboration which I got out of just in time) has been scrapped in favor of this. I’ve posted a snippet at Myspace – Jodi Lee Bleeds. It’s nasty, I warn you. After all those years as a doormat without my own opinions, at least I can vent them now, through my writing. And I will.
During my June break from Apex and 3Sides, I’ll be writing and doing the baseball mom thing. Between now and then, Samhain’s Call final edits (FINAL this time, damnit!) will be completed, Gabriel Fell will have at least another 10K added, and Syn may or may not find out what her father did to Trace in the library with the cand…er…fangs.
Kabhan and Siobhan are quiet right now. I think they may have been angered by the direction I was taking the Fire & Ice sequel…the voice changed and Siobhan became someone I don’t want her to be so I know she doesn’t want to be like that either. As my contract with Forbidden is up in October, I’ll be giving serious thought to just starting all over again, using the currently published piece as the beginning to a longer novel.
Lastly, in light of the recent news about Nocturnal Ooze shutting down operations (no, Bryn, it wasn’t my fault, honest!) as well as hearing of some markets that will be opening up for children’s books in the near future, I’ve been putting some serious thought into digging out my “ABC’s For Pagan Children” projects. No, they’re not really ABC books…they’re hard to describe. So I won’t..LOL Not yet, anyway.
Funny how my mind works, sometimes. Splatter in one paragraph and kids two down. LOL!

Hang in there. I know your pain and frustration.
How come you blog doesn’t keep me logged in, yo? :runs:
But yeah. Look at the bright side. At least you didn’t leave a character lying on a bedroom floor collecting dust for two years!
