Slowing Reality
A couple of weeks ago, I ordered some books from the local bookstore. I wanted to have ‘em on hand with me at the conferences May long weekend, because I intend to pester Kevin J. Anderson into signing them. And at least one copy of Apex 9.
Anyway, so I got the call that they were in, and I went over and picked ‘em up. Echoes of Terror had arrived as well – two copies – so naturally I had to check out the shelf. There they were. With little stickers on the front that say “Featuring local author Jodi Lee fr. Miami MB”. Care was with me, and between the two of us, I swear we looked like that commercial where the cartoon guy smiles and the top of his head flips back. And I giggled, in public.
I signed the books, too. Just my name and the little drop of ‘blood’. But it was so damn surreal. I think it was different just because it’s a bookstore. Signing the personalized ones for the contest, and signing the two at the drugstore here – different. Weird.
I think I finally stopped smiling around 4 AM this morning.

Oh wow-what an amazing feeling that would be.
