Stuff..’n..Stuff
Over a month since I was here…geez. I’ll eventually get back to steady posting, but in the meantime, I thought since this was in my head and I wanted to share, I should get it up now-ish.
Oven-Braised Pork Chops
4 boneless pork chops
3 tbsp Montreal Steak Spice
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tbsp Soya Sauce
2 tbsp sweet wine (I used Arbor Mist Exotic Fruits White Zinfandel)
1 tsp raw honey (liquid)
1/2 c hot water
Place pork chops in roasting pan liberally sprayed with Pam or other non-stick spray, sprinkle with steak spice. Brown in oven at 400* for fifteen minutes, or until the fat is beginning to turn golden and a small amount of liquid has accumulated.
Meanwhile, whisk sauces, wine and honey together with hot water. Remove pork chops from oven, lower temperature to 300*, and pour mixture over the meat. Return to oven for 45 minutes.
Remove from oven, take pork from pan and thicken the gravy (adding a bit more water if it’s too rich) with cornstarch thickening.
Cornstarch Thickening
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 c cold water
Serve pork chops over mashed potatoes, ladle gravy over all. Side of green beans.
And that was our supper last night. The girls LOVED it. Oh, and since Carrie’s been working at the bee farm, we’ve been getting a lot of honey. She dropped off a case (12 1kg containers; half raw, half pasteurized) Monday during coffee break, and I’ve been hunting up honey recipes ever since. As we try ‘em, I’ll post ‘em.
(PS)
I don’t trust cats, man. Especially my cat.
As for your new honey jackpot, try out honey-glazed chicken. Yum.
Yes. My cat. My evil many-toed advanced mutant cat. She does this.
