Seven Days – My WriMo Project
I’m up late again, or early, depending on how you view my almost non-existent sleeping habits. Had a lot of stuff on my mind lately, and it’s hard to sleep with the brain circling around.
I haven’t posted about this here yet, but last week, Milo was back at the vet’s, being enucleated. That’s the big word for OH-MY-GODS-THEY-TOOK-OUT-HIS-EYE!!! At some point last Wednesday, something punctured his eye – I mean, right through his eye. What we thought was his third eyelid being torn and peeled back was actually the lens sticking out. I’m gagging now, even thinking about it. Here’s the anatomy of a cat’s eye, in case you want to see what I’m talking about. Got him in to the vet’s early Thursday, and Gina (our super-fantastic awesome vet – if you need a vet in Morden, I highly recommend!) looked him over. He’s doing VERY well after his other issues, btw – sleek and soft just like he should be. I couldn’t even look him in the face, because of the eye, and it took us forever to find and catch him before that.. he never goes far from me and he was gone (but inside) for hours… I won’t describe the eye because I’ll hork all over the desk. Anyway, Gina sat back, said it’d have to come out, and I nearly fainted. Seriously.
We discussed how it would look afterwards, because I know some vets cauterize the socket and leave it to.. be all ewww and open and (hork). Gina said she’d sew him up, and he’d still have a normal, if somewhat different life. Another big vet bill, but because of our good standing and that we’re there at least every 2 months, we could put a down payment on the surgery, and pay in installments. He’s home, doing very well – he’s even managed to catch a fly! Except for his missing whiskers and of course the eye, he’s the same as ever. In other words, he’s wherever I am, at all times. ~_O
And I know, there are people out there that are going to shake their heads and compare $375 for enucleation to $45 for euthanization. I’m not going to get into that again, so bite me. lol
Of course tonight, thoughts eventually turned to NaNo, since it’s so close. I thought I was going to go rogue again this year, and work on a project I’ve had going for a rather long time. Then it struck me, why not start something fresh, something to work out the stress and anger and worry?
Lately I’ve been feeling so much better health-wise, but so much more tense and stressed mentally. There’s stuff going on I can’t write about here or chat about to most of my friends. That bothers me because I’ve always been completely open here. I felt safe here, until last year when one asshat of a twit decided to be a bitch about everything. Not that I’d said anything I wouldn’t say to anyone face to face, but said twit used that stuff against another family member… which is ridiculously unfair (and thankfully won’t hold up in court on that matter).
So, as I’ve been feeling pretty much like I did the first year I did NaNo, I’m going back to that all-out, completely gore-covered splatterfest. It’s gonna be fun, magickal, para-freaky and just a little more than a bit damp. And of course, it’s set in New Bedlam…more details as I work them out. It’s tentatively titled Seven Days.
I’ll post updates when I can. If you’re diving into the NaNo insanity and want a ‘barely around and never talks anyway’ buddy, I’m Jodi-Lee over there, ‘cuz I’m just that creative. o_O
11 days and counting. Now I just need to come up with a name for the antagonist… Any thoughts? I’ve described her as: an alcoholic, promiscuous, slandering, abusive, manipulative, child-abducting, interfering, crazy bitch. If you’ve got a name and want to share it – post it in the comments! I’ll do a poll and give away for the winning name.
PS – This will be a work of fiction. Any resemblance to peoples or places known or as yet undiscovered is purely by crazy random happenstance.
(And for that certain someone who still stalks this blog: If you recognize yourself in the antagonist description, and think to threaten me again with police or court action, think again. You have no legal standing. And uh… what makes you think it’s you?)
How about Ashton Hatley?
Oh, no! And he is an adorable little cat, too. What a precious face. Poor mite.
Many big hugs and love,
Me xox
Lorna – got it in the poll.. LOL Love how it combines a certain name, as well as Asshat.
Louise – yeah… he’s such a sweetheart most of the time. We’re getting used to the socket though, and it really doesn’t seem to have bothered him that much. He’s still hunting flies (and catching them mid-air) and ruling the rest of the brood like a true Scar.
