Freelancing Heck, Part Deux

5 September 2013 No Comment

I have editorial and design spots opened up in late September and all of October, if anyone wants ‘em. I’ll even knock 10% off if they’re booked before Monday. Check the Freelancing–>Schedule, then use the contact form if you’re interested.

Since the freelancing site I’ve been using has decided to repeatedly send the same “We can’t help without more information” despite my explanations and more information… AND apparently the cancellation will sit there until I can log in (I’m going to try logging in through the library) I’m past frustrated and I’ve headed straight into outright anger.

I’m not the only person that this has happened to, apparently. I’ve talked to a few people who worked on small contracts and when they finally land a bigger one, suddenly they can’t log in. Nothing so drastic as the pages not even loading as I’m experiencing, but similar. The one thing we all have in common, is that we are free members, rather than paid members.

So if a site like this treats free members the way it does, why in the hell would we bust out $20+ a month (or more, depending on package choice) to “supposedly” get better access, better contracts, etc.? I mean, what’s to stop them from letting it all flow well until six months down the road (again) and I land a big contract, only to be locked out again.

Would I have to pay up to get a better account, to get better access?

Bait and freaking switch. And there’s a client out there who is really pissed right now and I can’t blame him. I can’t even contact him because I don’t have a name to search with – just a user name. He has my name, and access to my user profile (which has info on it, that I think he can see), so if he sees this, rr please use the contact form to get in touch with me. I can’t even log on to release the contract, and I’ve asked the support desk, but they’re being less than helpful. I hope they’ve processed that part of my request anyway, and just didn’t mention it.

This does make me think twice about ever using that site again…

*sigh*
