Writersphere – Visual Prompt – 11-14-13

14 November 2013 No Comment

This week, I’m posting several utilities and articles that may be helpful in nudging your work along. See, it’s that time, the dreaded week two, where so many of us trip up and give up. So – not us, right? Let’s dive into it!

How to create a fight scene

An Impatient Writer’s Approach to Worldbuilding

Sub-plot advice

Brainstorm Plot and Scenes

Kevin’s Elevens – Tips 5 & 6 (also, look around for the rest of ‘em, they’re fantastic!)

Name Generator – covering every possible country, genre and interest!

Seventh Sanctum Random Generators – where one can randomly generate anything to kick the doldrums out, and drag creativity back in!

Terrible Minds – the whole blog, while probably NSFW (lol), is full of advice, encouragement, tips, tricks and laughs. Browse through it, you’ll find what you’re looking for…probably.

And…I lied. I’m also including a gorgeous piece I stumbled on at DeviantArt. My characters have lost the love of their lives, but found friendship in each other, and in their memories. This…works for one of those memories.

Of course, it also reminds me greatly of that most romantic scene from Lord of the Rings, and is inspired by the song Romance by Apocalyptica. I love Apocalyptica… so this seemed a natural pick for this week!

’til next week – keep releasing those words, you know they want to be free!

PS: For you WriMos, by the end of the day you should have completed at least 23333 to stay on track.
