6 of 52 Weeks – Stay-cay Vay-cay

11 February 2014 No Comment

Thursday night, I went to watch movies at a friend’s house (where my youngest is currently house-sitting). I came home for an hour or so the other day, but quickly wandered back over there for more movies.

I stayed. In point of fact, I’m almost tempted to go back tonight, but… meh. I think it’s time to give Rhia a turn at being annoyed by me.

Just in case you hadn’t noticed, the posts meant for Friday and Monday didn’t get done. I’m going to fill in on the weekend, and just slide into the groove again here. See my excuse above. I wasn’t here, and I didn’t haul my butt back to do posts. And I was hiding from life, or something. More the something than life, because really, other than writing and editing, I’ve been doing little else.

There is an allure to being over there though… besides the quiet and the lack of menagerie, besides the warmth and the accessibility to the Variety store, they’ve got the perfect set up for watching movies.

AND since Carrie has decided to be there more than here (which is the purpose of house-sitting, yes?) she took her xbox. Our TV requires the xbox to work, because we don’t have cable (and all the available stations here are through cable only) and therefore use it to access Netflix, Youtube and Crackle. It also plays the DVDs and other files, because our DVD player blew up or something silly quite some time ago. Basically, Carrie’s xbox is our only source of entertainment besides the mountains of books and the internet.

Apparently, this means that during my off-time or coffee breaks, I must amuse myself solely with Reddit and Youtube here on my computer. Reddit is down, and Youtube isn’t what it once was, know what I mean?

Or I could actually do something productive and write. I hit my goal and went a little bit past for WriDay, and I’ve got to get my counts updated here and the WriYe forums… but all those words went into a Thief-world fanfic. I love the Thief canon, from the first three games – mostly the first two, honestly – and I guess we’ll have to see what the re-boot brings. @nanopals has heard it’s pretty bad… This computer won’t play it, I already know, so it’s unlikely I’ll get personal experience with it. Not that I have personal experience playing the third game, either. I have done the odd mission in both Dark Project/Gold and Metal Age, but the third just didn’t catch my eye the way those two did.

This isn’t my first time in fanfic, and it’s also not the first time in Thief fanfic. I was in the process of writing a story that my ex was working on turning into a fan mission years and years ago. Somewhere on a floppy disk in a container in a box in… this universe… is that story. I’d like to find it and see what it was, since I can’t remember now, and why not, right?

In the meantime, Garrett has found out the little thief-girl he apprehended at the end of 3 just might be more to him than a possible acolyte…

*winkwink*

So if you see missing posts during February, it’s because I’ve wandered off and either got lost in the City with Garrett, or I’m with the kid watching stuff. <|;^) Hopefully see you next week… <3 JL
