20 of 52 Weeks – Chaos & Bananas

21 May 2014 No Comment

I’m starting to think time isn’t as linear as it appears. I am beginning to believe it’s circular, and just like the lunar cycle, it comes back to show it’s full face.

Last spring my house was full of chaos, and due to circumstances obviously chaotic and out of our control, the spring clean and cleanse didn’t happen. It didn’t really change over the summer and fall, and we were just settling in to get it cleared out when more chaos landed in our laps. The same thing, repeating.

*le sigh*

It’s hard to focus on one thing that needs doing, when there are so, so, so many all piled on top of each other. I’m looking at my kitchen today, and see stacks of dishes that haven’t been done – yes, stacks – and a stove that needs bleaching because I had a soup boil over on me and it stained pretty bad. The table is piled with small appliances and fruit and bread and… I’m not entirely sure what those little things used to be, but I’m guessing sweetie oranges. I also realize that it was dry enough in the house this winter to completely dehydrate the citrus fruits long before they started to go bad.

Under the table is a jungle of I’m not quite sure, and recycling stuffs.

I wanted to start in my room, but looking at it makes me want to cry, and frankly facing away from it to stare blankly at an open work-in-progress is more appealing.

Kitchen is the starting point this time. I tell myself I’ll reward us by baking banana muffins and bread once it’s cleaned. We’ve still got most of a case of bananas in the freezers, and they’ve gotta be used up.

Urgh.

Dishes.

I think I need a wife…

In the meantime, things are looking good with my mom’s latest stay in the hospital. A week after being admitted, she is finally making small steps back and forth (about ten or so total). It looks like home care will be an option, along with oxygen. The next step is getting her to admit she can’t live on her own five miles from town next winter. It’s time to start looking at places in town.

Hoping to get to the greenhouse this weekend, since last weekend was a bust – WAAAY too cold to be planting! This weekend looks better though, so long as I can get the Bee-Girl away from her hives long enough. <|;^) ’til next week… <3 JL
