32 of 52 Weeks – Slow, Slow, Slow

12 August 2014 No Comment

It’s been a hell of a week and a half since I returned to the desk, so to speak. I mean, seriously, I can not believe how much I have to be thankful for, and how many dear colleagues and friends stepped up and helped out. I hope they know how much I appreciate them!

I’ve spent the last two days catching up on cover design, having figured out a work-around to the current computer issue. Knock on wood it keeps working, but I found that if I execute the files through the file transfer protocol program I use, it opens, and it works. Not only that, when I’ve saved the tweaked file, it continues to work!

Writing on the other hand, that’s been so slow. I’ve managed a meagre 3k-ish, and my goal for August is 80k. The coming weekend is all mine, however, and I’ve joined the WriYe challenge called 5k weekend. Given a choice of goals, I chose 5k per day, a total of 10k. That should boost my count, so long as I hit the goals. There’s several mini-challenges all through the month, but my most hoped for, is two completed short stories. One for submission to the next Fossil Lake anthology and one for the next Milestones anthology.

There’s a conference I want to attend in spring, the 10th anniversary of Gaia Gathering. GG is a uniquely Canadian pagan gathering, and as with the first, it is again being held in Edmonton Alberta. Glas Celli is looking into renting a bus and driving across country where we’ll meet up with old friends, and new. Some I’ve known – online and off – since 2000. Let me tell you, there is absolutely nothing like being welcomed by a bunch of folks who are just as pleased to put a face to a name as you are! Honestly, it was just like talking to them online, I was that comfortable with them. Fingers are crossed.

I think that’s it for my ramblings this week, hopefully I didn’t bore the tears out of ya!
