I need help! I have two characters that need to be named, and nothing I’ve tried to attach to them works for me. It’s frustrating, because I like to have ‘em named right from the start. Usually that’s how it works for me; the characters show up, whisper sweet secrets in the muse’s ear while feeding the fornit bologna, and the little buggers allow ‘em access to my brain.

Because, ya know, secrets and bologna, right?

Sometimes the characters tell me what they need to tell me and go, other times they stick around and talk and talk and talk… These two, they’ve been elusively skirting the edges of my imagination, never quite giving me the full picture. That includes names! Grrr!

Here’s the setting… a hill overlooking a wide valley, devastated by climate change. Only thirty people have survived in this area, and after a few years of struggle, their little community is thriving. Two young adults are hunting, and come across something that could change their lives forever.

Character 1: 19 year old woman, really rough and hard-edged. Doesn’t trust easily, and sticks to herself mostly. Will work grudgingly with groups when needed. Raised by a neighbor (mechanic) since her parents died.

Character 2: 22 year old man, roguish but solid, easy to joke. Friendly to a fault, but one still has to work to gain his respect and trust. Often found with the older folk of the community, learning and listening.
