WriYe Blogging Circle – Before the Bell Tolls
I almost can’t believe it, but I’ve finally caught up to the last pre-NaNoWriMo blog circle prompt! And since it is the last before November’s craze of words, of course it’s about planning for surviving the WriMo madness.
And I found my beat sheet, so I’ve done a screen cap and I can actually do a proper bonus this time! Of course, I did black out the spoilers that I haven’t actually hit yet. <|;^)
NaNo Planning
What is the most important thing for you to have done before doing a NaNoWriMo novel? Do you have to have it fully planned to get that 1,667 every day, or do you have a title and a main character and go?
Bonus: Show us your NaNo planning – handwritten or computer screen!
For me, my biggest project pre-NaNo is setting up my blog. This year I didn’t do as good a job as last year or the year previous, however I hit all 20 days for posts! Usually I like to have the posts written and scheduled to post before NaNo even starts; this year I went week by week, or so. Some were by day, lol.
Next, I try to have at least title and main characters before the bell rings at midnight November 1st. This year I had a beat sheet (a recent find for NaNo’14) fully planned out, though I did not make room there for the side-roads my characters took me on. Usually though, I end up winging it with a title, or even, for a couple of years there, I start writing and everything comes along as it comes.
And then, finally, I hope to have everyone in my circle of family and friends know that I’m going to be busy at odd times of the day/evening, so while I hope to come up for air now and then to see them and maybe eat or replenish the coffee hoard, I could be awol the entire month.
Here’s a look at the beat sheet for One For Sorrow:

And then the writing starts, right? Write. Right. Pffft.
’til next week… with the December prompt!
