This morning has been full of memories. A friend emailed from BC, wanting a few recipes that she wants to try out on her new boyfriend…. recipes she’s probably simply forgotten, because I know she grew up making them all the time (and I remember her making spaetzle without benefit of cookbook or recipe card, and it was damn good!)
On top of that, yesterday was blisteringly hot. I’m under the impression it won’t be the same today, but even so – when the girls and I go to town, we’re …
Yesterday around this time, I was floored by the news that Jamie Eyberg, fantastic writer and every writer’s friend, had died in a freak accident. In attempting to rescue him, his wife Ann also passed. They leave behind two very young children.
There has been such an outpouring of love and memories, and support for the children. Jamie never seemed to pass up the chance to help out the rest of us, and was always there with encouraging words and applause.
I just can’t believe that he won’t be there again, …
HA. Yeah.

You all know how I love Cate Gardner – if you don’t, well, I do. In a weird sort of stalker-y-ish-ly kind of way. She’s strange, her writing is strange and her men come in strange pin-striped suits, too. Cate’s running a blog award/contest in conjunction with the forthcoming release of her story collection, Strange Men in Pin-Striped Suits, from Strange Publications. Don’t click those links yet. Wait, it’s okay, they’ll open in a new window. Now, scroll down for award and contest info.

I’ve been trying to catch the deluge in a paper cup. In fact, there is so much deluge my eyes are crossing and I’m having the most amazing dreams (when I finally give up and go to bed).
Now you know why I go at the pace I go, and why I’m always five pokers in the fire. It’s the access to the upper levels of an awesome dreamscape.
I have watched a distant family member die, and become a zombie… and realized I probably couldn’t give …
Wait… That was Yentl… oh well.
I used the prologue/first chapter of the New Bedlam novel to do the I Write Like meme, and it turns out I write like Hemingway. Hmmm. I don’t know exactly how to feel about that, but it makes me want to giggle for some reason…

I did get this posted to facebook yesterday, and meant to post here as well, but Cate gave me Monday…I think it was this one. Or maybe next Monday. Well, either way, it’s Tuesday and now I’m posting the news here. ;-P
