Market Monday – Zombies & Needfire Poetry

If you haven’t heard of Zombie Zak, you really need to pop over to that great internet talk radio site, TMV Cafe, or check out his work in the Belfire Press anthology, Old School. And now, as his alter ego Bill Snider (or could ZZ be the alter zombie of Bill Snider himself?!), there is a new poetry collection just released via Needfire Poetry!

Scribbles – Jack Dawes & Shay McClane

I received an interesting email the other day, and it’s put me in the mode to work – hard – on one of my WIPs. Throughout October, I’ll get it all arranged and planned and thought through. Once NaNo starts November 1st, I’ll be ready to give it my full attention. Recipe Box – Beef Sausage and Peppers Casserole

This is what’s for dinner tonight, wonderfully spiced beef sausages in a hearty sauce, served on basmati. A good dinner for a mid-week slump.

38 of 52 Weeks – At a Loss

This past weekend, I went from behaving well, to behaving very badly in a matter of moments. Not a mood swing, but an adverse reaction of sorts.
It’s been three months since my mother passed away, and our extended family just had the first of what will be many gatherings – a bridal shower. As everyone in the family knows, my mother was all over these things. From finding ways to have ‘the’ best gift for the bride, to insisting on inserting herself in the planning, to fussing over the food …

Market Monday – From French to Prairie Kitchens

I get a kick out of Julia Child. I do. Not enough to through my life or that of others into a blog for a year – although I did enjoy Julie & Julia the movie, not so much the book.
She explains everything simply, as though she were speaking to people who have absolutely no idea what they are doing in the kitchen, perhaps because at the time she learned to cook during her stay in Paris, she too, had no idea. Check out some posts on Youtube, they’re worth …
