Happy Beltaine or May Day, or just… hey it’s almost Friday!
I wish I had some shots of the apiary spring yard where the girls and I were yesterday, marking spots where the wild prairie crocus are beginning to come back. The girls’ boss had given Carrie a bunch of little yard flags, and we came back with only five… and we didn’t mark each cluster. Recipe Box – Breakfast for Dinner

When we have extra eggs and a loaf of bread going stale or one left in the freezer a bit too long, this is our go-to dinner. Or lunch. Or breakfast. It’s good any time of day or night, and is a particularly good after-party snack, too.

17 of 52 Weeks – The Doldrums of Spring

I had big plans for April. Like, truly big plans. 75k into a resurrected novel project, 5k into short stories. A novel crit for a prize winner, edits for Belfire and submissions that are overflowing my inbox. Plus the massive house cleaning we’ve been trying to do all winter.
And then spring happened, in fits and starts, leaving snow, ice, rain, ice, snow, rain and ice all over the place. And Carrie went back to work. And Rhia’s moving into town. And… blah.

Market Monday – The Smell of Dirt

I don’t know how folks in other areas are doing, but here in the still-cold climate of southern Manitoba, we’re starting to really get the itch to get out there in the yard and get things cleaned up and prepped for gardening.
Since Care and I seem to be stuck here for at least another season, we’re looking at replacing our containers and possibly setting up a square-foot / vertical garden for the front yard. After asking around, these books came highly recommended, for the gardening, and for the afterwork!
